چکیده
In this paper the Potsdam Propeller Test Case is numerically investigated in oblique inflow conditions. We consider three different topics: open water performance curves, cavitation observations, and pressure pulses induced by propeller to ceiling of tunnel. flow case, not uniform from perspective propeller, which results dependency blade loading on rate frequency. The numerical simulations were compared experimental for each case. Additionally, we analyzed unsteady features blades as well peaks wake due collapsing cavities. found that global patterns close agree with tests simulations. agreement tunnel was better non-cavitating shed behind subsequent collapse events a vast increase recorded maximum values. Root produced an order magnitude greater than tip vortex cavitation. Also cavities contributed significant fluctuations blades.

A Boundary Element Method for the Computation of Unsteady Sheet Cavitation Effects in Marine Propeller Flows
This paper focuses on the modelling and simulation of unsteady sheet cavitation in marine propeller flows. In the first part of the paper, the mathematical model based on potential flow theory is introduced and the numerical scheme is derived. The novelty of the presented calculation method refers to the unsteady partial sheet cavitation model which has been implemented into the in-house panel ...
متن کاملComputational Analysis of Propeller Sheet Cavitation and Propeller-ship Interaction
This paper describes a computational procedure which is being developed for the practical analysis of propeller sheet cavitation and propeller-ship interaction including hull pressure fluctuations. The computational procedure consists of three different, coupled methods: (i) a RANS method for the analysis of the viscous flow around the ship hull and the determination of the velocity field in th...

Composite propellers offer high damping characteristics and corrosion resistance when compared with metal propellers. But the design of a hybrid composite propeller with the same strength of metal propeller is the critical task. For this purpose, the present paper focusses on fluid-structure interaction analysis of hybrid composite propeller with Carbon/Epoxy, R-Glass/Epoxy and S2-Glass/Epoxy t...

A validation study for various CFD models of the time-varying flow through a confined bank of cylinders is presented. The geometry approximates part of the lower plenum of a high temperature reactor and is arranged with the cylinders on equilateral triangles with pitch to diameter ratio of 1.7. Time-resolved Particle Image Velocimetry (PIV) measurement coupled with time-varying pressure measure...
